The
Southern Tier Junior Bassmasters were formed
in early 1998. Currently, the junior chapter is under the
direction of adult youth leaders Lori
Elliott.
The chapter has regular monthly meetings at
Perkin's Family Restaurant, in Olean, New York. Meetings are
held every second Wednesday in Jan., Mar., Jun., Sept., Nov.
and Dec. at 6:00 pm. Anyone is welcome to attend these meetings.
Here, the chapter has developed it's own by-laws, budget and
elects it's own officers. Junior members are involved in setting
their tournament schedules and fundraisers. These fundraisers
include an annual 50/50 raffle, bake sales, yard sales and
car wash.
There is no minimum age restriction to become
a member, but you must not be older than 18 years, as of August
31st. Boat ownership is helpful, but not required. No experience
is necessary. There is something for everyone, with two separate
tournament trails. All children are welcome, but must be accompanied
by an adult at any of the chapter's tournaments.
Southern Tier Junior Bassmasters is affiliated
with the
New York State B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation and also the
National B.A.S.S Federation.
Annual membership dues are $25 per child.
This also includes membership to the National B.A.S.S. Federation.
There are no other fees to participate in any junior chapter
functions.
