January 2012

The regular monthly meeting was held on January 11, 2012, at Perkins Family Restaurant in Olean, NY.

2012 Banquet Set to Go

Banquet Chair, Sharon Green wants to remind everyone that they must make a banquet reservation so that we can have an accurate seating count and start on time. This year’s banquet will be held February 4 at the Old Library restaurant in Olean. Drinks are at 5:00 PM and the dinner will start promptly at 6:00 PM.

Wade and Sue McClurg will be running the Chinese Auction once again. Other than our grill raffle, this is our only fundraiser for the year so members are asked to donate items to the banquet for auctioning. In the past some of the most popular auctions have been for pkids and women’s items so everything doesn’t have to be related to fishing. Please do Wade and Sue a favor and contact them early if you plan to donate. This allows them to have everything set up for a smooth auction and a better time for everyone.

Junior News:

The juniors held their elections as follows: President: Colton Gotchall; Vice-President: Zach Laventure; Secretary: Kayleen Estes and Treasurer: Dawson Tarbox.

The tournament schedules were announced and appear on Page 2 of this newsletter.

The Juniors will hold their annual breakfast on March 3 at Applebee’s in Olean from 8-10 AM. Juniors will be selling the $5 tickets for the event at the banquet.

The Six-Man team will be: Alfred Nickerson, Layleen Estes, Sam Hallock, Ryan Foster, Zach Laventure and Caswell Stanton. Alternates are Colton Gotshall and A.J. Stanton. They’ll fish on July 28 at a lake TBD.

Miscellaneous:

Saturday Meeting Set for April 14

After last year’s success we will again hold a meeting at the Clarion Hotel in Batavia on Saturday, April 14 for our northern members - hosted by one of our sponsors, Ken Golub. The format will be similar to last year and run from 10 AM – noon with refreshments and a swap meet to follow. There will be a guest speaker from Power Marine Services to speak about engine maintenance and other issues.

This will be a very important meeting, as we will discuss by-law changes that would eliminate the club’s 40-member cap and the five-function requirement. Members in attendance will decide.

The next meeting will be held at the Olean Perkins Restaurant on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7 PM.
