Kate Owczarek wins
Conesus Lake points event
in unprecedented fashion

Lakeville , NY , July 8, 2017 -
When was the last time you heard of an angler taking a 5 lb. penalty and still win the event? That's exactly what happened at Conesus lake when Kate came to the scales.

As it were, Kate was fishing as a non-boater and her boater had trouble getting the outboard started, right at the end of the day when it was time to head into the weigh-in. You know that feeling, don't you? By the time that help arrived and Kate got back to the launch with her catch, she was 5 minutes late for

check-in, which according to rules, cost 1 lb. per minute penalty.

Kate's sack weighed an impressive 19.30 lbs. anchored by a 5.22 lb largemouth. That fish would easily have been lunker had it not been for penalties. Kate's final weight, after penalties was 14.30 lbs.

Kate reported her primary pattern was dead-sticking a Senko-style bait, wacky rigged. She said her biggest bass would pick it off the bottom after the bait set there a bit.

Wade McClurg weighed a 5-bass limit for 14.22 lbs. and took 2nd place by only a .08 lb. difference. Wade's larges bass weighed 4.18 lb.

Finishing in 3rd place was John Cary with 5 fish weighing 13.16 lbs. With his finish, John has taken a 3 point lead in the AOY race.

Rounding out the top 4 finishes was Noel Good with his limit weighing in at 12.90 lbs.

The tournament lunker was a 4.82 lb. largemouth caught by Tom Skidmore.

We would like to thank the 3-Legged Pig for sponsoring this event.
