It’s Tournament Time Again!

With the opening of the Lake Erie trophy season for smallmouth bass in full swing on Saturday May 2, 2009, the Southern Tier Bassmasters held their first open tournament of the

season launching from Dunkirk Harbor. With a small turnout, 8 boats, and the 20” size limit only 6 legal fish were brought to the scales.

The team of Larry Faulk and Mike Graham took first place honors and $100 with a 2 fish limit weighing 12.46 pounds. Second place and $60 went to the team of Bob Elliott and Andy Marino. Their 2 fish limit weighed in at 11.03 pounds. The father/son team of Noel and Larry Good took $40 and third with one fish weighing 6.42 pounds. The other legal fish was caught by the father/son team of Kevin and Nick Kuhn. It weighed 5.80 pounds but was out of the money.

The other 4 teams caught fish but fell victim, as many other tournament anglers have, to the DEC’s strict 20” limit. The tournament was a fund raiser for the club’s 6-man team.
